Rhubaan

Rhubaan is a Gaelic word meaning ‘beautiful point’. And the name of the bay on the Kyles of Bute where I live and paint. I just added the ‘art’.

About the artist

I was born and bred in the west of Scotland and moved here at the beginning of the 21st century.

The scenery has had a huge influence on my work. It is stunning and ever changing. Previously I seldom painted landscapes, preferring life painting and drawing, but now I am totally captivated by them.

I also travel extensively in Scotland and never fail to be inspired by the scenery.

Quite recently I have become engrossed in print making, in particular monoprints. The techniques are endless and the results are often unpredictable and pleasantly surprising.
